CONSULTANCY
An initial
consultation meeting. This meeting
is to view your garden and discuss your requirements.
This gives you the opportunity to get to know
the Designer better and to view her portfolio.
Usually at this point the Designer will give
an estimate for the fees to carry out the
required design process. If commissioned the
next stage of the design process commences
which is the site survey. This initial consultation
is free of charge within a 25 miles radius.
Thereafter there is a fee of £40 which,
if the designer is commissioned, will be deducted
from the total design fee.
FULL DESIGN
SERVICE
Site survey.
In most cases the designer carries out the
survey including measurements, soil testing,
photographic record and all other factors
required to produce a scale plan of the project.
For larger and more complex sites the services
of a professional surveyor may be sought –
the fee being met by the client.
Draft Sketch
Designs. Draft sketches are then
produced. A meeting gives you the chance to
discuss the proposals, make comments and confirm
that you are happy to proceed with the final
scale plans. Certain decisions will need to
be taken at this stage such as hard landscaping
materials or any garden structures to be used.
Detailed Scale
Plans. A detailed working plan that
shows the finished garden. This plan will
show the materials and features to be used
in the project. It will contain all the information
that is needed for a landscape contractor
or yourself to construct the garden.
Planting Plans. If a planting
scheme is required separate plans are produced
to accompany the main construction plan. These
plans will show the number of shrubs and plants
required, their location and a printed list
including their botanical names, description
and a care and maintenance programme.
OTHER SERVICES
PROVIDED BY THE DESIGNER
Consultation
Visits to discuss solutions to problem
areas in your garden such as awkward levels,
lack of privacy, low maintenance and under-achieving
planting in borders that lacks impact and
colour, shady spots or an uninteresting part
of the garden. An hourly rate is charged for
this service.
Front Gardens
and Driveways. Consultation to help
improve the front of your property such as
your driveway and entrance. The Designer works
with a company who specialises in transforming
driveways by creating a fantastic first impression
to the entrance to your property. Full scale
designs if required can be produced to achieve
this.
Ponds and Water
Features. Ponds, bog gardens and
water features can be designed to suit your
garden space or incorporated into the new
design.
Planting Supply
and Positioning. The designer will
source and set out the planting up of your
garden. She will visit plant nurseries and
arrange the delivery of the plants. An hourly
rate is charged for this service.
Site Visits and Project Management.
As the designer has worked with you to create
your garden design, she is in an ideal position
to interpret it and so, if you wish, you can
leave the entire project to your designer
from start to finish. An hourly rate is charged
for this service.
Landscaping
Contractors. The designer regularly
works with landscaping and specialist driveway
contractors in the area who construct the
gardens. However you may have your own preferred
contractor. Contractors are employed by the
client directly and not the designer.
Finishing Touches.
Once the project has been completed there
are always the finishing touches to be considered.
The designer can suggest planters and ornamentation.
She will even plant up the containers to compliment
your new garden. An hourly rate is charged
for this service.
All meetings with contractors,
architects, tree surgeons together with visits
to nurseries, reclamation yards and suppliers
are charged at an hourly rate including travel.
